We have developed an environmental monitoring kit designed for construction sites, particularly those close to residential or sensitive areas. The kit integrates weather sensors, air quality sensors and a sound level meter, and produces a report every day that can be viewed online.
What it measures
— weather conditions, recorded continuously on site;
— air quality, detecting PM10 and PM2.5 particulate matter and CO2 concentration;
— noise levels, with peak noise measured via a sound level meter.
Power supply and customisation
As with our time-lapse kit, the client can choose to power the unit from the mains (220V) or via solar panels, which we can supply on request, making the system fully autonomous even on sites with no electrical connection.
Every kit can be customised: we build the sensor set around the client's specific needs, and we handle the internal programming of the operating logic and the integration between the different sensors, so that the data collected is consistent and easy to read in a single report.
Where the data can be viewed
As with our time-lapse service, we provide a dedicated web page with up-to-date data. This can be delivered on a custom page that we build, or integrated directly into the client's existing website.
Why it's useful
A continuous daily report documents loud noises and their peaks, dust raised by vehicles and site work, and weather conditions over time. This is objective data that can be used in the event of disputes, useful for defining site working agreements, and for managing relationships with neighbours.
Air quality data can also be used as supporting documentation for sustainability credits under the LEED and BREEAM protocols, particularly regarding construction pollution control.
